A major feature of the system is the graphical presentation of results from computer aided detection (CAD) algorithms which localize suspicious findings in the CT-scans of the chest. The CAD reports are linked to the corresponding CT-scans, and the report is updated when the corresponding CT-scan is re-interpreted. The CAD can be applied to any CT-scan from the chest series, no matter which software tool was used to produce the CT-scan. Results are updated automatically whenever the CT-scan is re-interpreted. We present a trial of the web-based interactive CAD scheme on 700 CT-scans of the chest. A study-specific statistical method has been developed to deal with the problem of multiple testing. After we applied a modification of that study-specific method to the data used for the initial evaluation of the CAD system, the study-specific test yielded a p-value of 0.008 to indicate the presence of a positive result in the data. The p-value is 0.001 when the CAD reports are averaged over 12 sets of 10 posterior-anterior (PA) CT-scans of the chest. The p-value reaches a maximum of 0.02 when the set of CT-scans is limited to only the first three CT-scans of the series.
