Men Of War Assault Squad 2 Pause
Selecting cover also performs a special action – press the hotkey for the cover to see the ‘order selected cover’ prompt. Selecting cover is essential to counter attacks because it denies the enemy your fire and forces them to break off their attack before they are hurt. You can mark the red pin on the nearest cover that’s in a line with the direction of player’s current turn, or not – that’s up to you.
Correctly using cover can be an actual tactic – using it at the right time can be huge. For example, making good use of elevation can be a form of ‘peekaboo’ by holding it for too long can result in an enemy using it to shoot straight into your squad’s guns.
Selecting cover allows you to call in the ‘call in’ or’stationary’ air vehicle. Select the Vehicle menu and then left-click on the cover tile you want to use to call in the air vehicle – the player will move through the cover and be able to fire or otherwise move the air vehicle.
This can be a life-and-death tactic, as the cover will start taking damage instantly, forcing the enemy to pour all their fire onto the cover. However, the fire is focused, not lateral, so if you can avoid the attack there is no need to move, but move away at a fast pace if you are hit.
Experience showed that it was often possible to destroy cover – destroy a cover and it will remove all of that cover’s attack effects for the remainder of the battle. You can destroy cover, and while you’re at it, move in the cover to make sure you are better protected.
Call in the cover can be triggered any time – there is no cooldown. This gives you and your team the chance to be more flexible, and avoid the common problem of using cover at the wrong time – the enemy are likely to attack and destroy cover you might want to use.
