Skyrim is a PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 game. It is available for a system price of $59.99.[2] On October 31, 2011, Bethesda Softworks released Skyrim for the Nintendo DS. The Xbox 360 version of the game was released on November 6 and the Nintendo DS version on November 18. The European release of the game on the Xbox 360 is November 8 and on the PlayStation 3 or Nintendo DS is November 15. On December 3, 2011, Bethesda Softworks released the “Dragonborn” DLC. It was available for $14.99 and included three new areas. Skyrim has also been ported to a variety of other modern platforms, including iOS, Android, iOS, and Java ME. Skyrim is the first installment of a trilogy, to be followed by Dragonborn, and finally Dragonborn II.[24] An expansion pack, called Dawnguard, was released for the PC on August 27, 2012. Dawnguard’s DLC pack includes a single player campaign that serves as the expansion’s main storyline and original characters joining the player in the main campaign. This expansion removed the level cap and allowed the player to be able to kill a vampire and survive. Skyrim is available in different languages, including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian, and Chinese.[citation needed]

Skyrim, along with its sequel Dragonborn, are only available through the full retail release. A special prequel, titled Dawnguard, was released on Steam and is only available with an online connection.[24] Dawnguard offers a heavily scripted and acted story and no quests, while Dawnguard is a pure, linear, dungeon crawl.[25] A special edition of Skyrim packaged with Dawnguard was also released exclusively at GameStop.[26] Following the release of the Dawnguard expansion, all DLC bundled for the base game will be called Dawnfall, a new game within the existing Skyrim engine.[27] Dawnfall will unite many aspects of both Dawnguard and Dragonborn into one game, including, but not limited to missions, characters, combat, and dungeons.
